I am a fiction writer, spinning suspenseful stories and spending time with rogues, rebels, and feisty women. Mysteries, thrillers, and dramas. Soon to be published.

Below are descriptions of my most recent books.

A Reluctant Spy

The setting is the Computer Science Department of a large university.

On the day of her husband’s funeral, Madeline Geiger, a brilliant computer scientist is approached by an FBI agent. He persuades her to spy on the Computer Science Department and find out who’s providing encryption software to a ring of dark-web pornographers..

Madeline is introverted, injured, confined to a wheelchair, and not a spy. To succeed in her quest, she must rely solely on her brains and computer expertise.

She must also figure out where her mysterious new tenant fits into the story. He showed up at her house with his pets and an agreement from her late husband to rent part of her house. It seems to Madeline that he has altogether too much interest in her nocturnal activities on campus.

As Madeline digs into the computers of her colleagues, she makes some devastating discoveries about her late husband. He was not who he seemed. With her trust in him destroyed, Madeline must emerge from his shadow and outwit an antagonist who is luring her into a deadly game.

This is the second Madeline Geiger book!

The Fourth Woman

Madeline is now 33, a widow living in Boston. In The Fourth Woman, she is stalked by a neurobiologist whom she meets through an online dating site. Struggling to get rid of him, she discovers he’s after more than sex, love and marriage.

Madeline Geiger is a cyber-security expert with her own business in Cambridge, MA. She has been a widow for three years, and would like to rekindle some love and romance in her life. The first man she dates, Vince Cantley, invites her to see his lab, where he’s doing cutting-edge research on rats and mice.

Madeline finds these animal experiments disturbing, and terminates her brief relationship with Vince. He, however, perseveres, and Madeline becomes convinced that he is experimenting on members of her household, and will continue doing so until Madeline relents and lets him into her life again.

No one believes Madeline’s outlandish theory. Not the cops, nor her co-workers, nor her new love-interest. Then Madeline is kidnapped, and fears that she too will be subjected to Vince’s special brand of mind control. It will take all of Madeline’s courage and computer expertise to extricate herself from Vince’s web.

Roger Brownlee is a British expat and a bit of a rogue. He’s a respectable bookstore owner, expert forger, and collector of nineteenth-century documents. He’s also a bachelor who has given up on love after a disastrous affair in his youth. His only companion is a neurotic dog with separation anxiety.

On the cusp of his 50th birthday, Roger’s life is upended when a reclusive woman, Dorothea Ross, hires him to appraise a house full of old papers inherited from her historian uncle. When Roger comes upon a genuine Lincoln letter, the temptation to own it overwhelms him, and he creates a forgery that he substitutes for the original.

Then Roger falls passionately in love with Dorothea, the woman from whom he has stolen a priceless document. When Dorothea finds out about his subterfuge, Roger is in danger of losing not only his love, but also his life’s work.

The Lincoln Affair

The novel is set in Springfield, IL, the world of Abraham Lincoln. My audience includes people who like villains, forgers, subterfuge, and a good love story.
